AN
EXOTIC ESCAPE
Join us on one of the most luxurious classic
aircraft in the world
for a weekend of fun, sun and relaxation.
The Bazaruto Archipelago is
a group of small islands situated 40 kilometres off the Mozambique
coast and 600 kms north of Maputo. Bazaruto is the largest island
- 37 kms long by 7kms wide with the luxurious Indigo Bay Resort
on the western side. This unspoilt setting creates a true African
island experience with all the natural splendour of white beaches,
clear turquoise seas and coral reefs with some of the world’s
best fishing and diving against a background of soaring sand dunes.
The island is home to abundant bird and marine life. In a secluded
bay on the west side of the island, Indigo Bay offers you luxury
rooms and interior finishes that harmonise with the ambience and
serenity of the location. Soothe your soul at the sparkling pool,
sip cocktails at the Pool bar, and dine al fresco on fresh and imaginative
cuisine overlooking the tranquil sea. Energise your spirit with
thrilling discoveries that include deep-sea fishing, water sports,
horse riding, island dives and ocean cruises. Whether it’s
for exhilaration, stimulation or relaxation, Indigo Bay is the definitive
island experience. Rovos Air operates 1957 Douglas DC 4 seating
50 in business class comfort. The company also has two splendid
1954 Convair 440 aeroplanes rebuilt in South Africa incorporating
the most modern avionics and catering equipment available. Designed
as a 44 seater they have been reconfigured to accommodate just 24
passengers in first class buttoned leather comfort for this journey
– two metre spacing! Experience first class bar service including
a selection of South Africa’s finest vintage wines accompanied
by a choice of tasty hors d’oeuvres. In 2002 Rovos Air acquired
a 1944 DC 3 Dakota called ‘Delaney’ after a baby was
born on board in 1975. Fitted with 15 first class leather seats
and totally refurbished this aircraft has proved to be a worthy
addition to the fleet (thus with the DC 4, a Convair and the DC
3 we could accommodate 97 passengers).
