CAPE TOWN TO PRETORIA including our guesthouses in Cape Town and 131 on Herbert Baker in Pretoria – 7 days
For many visitors to South Africa, there is no finer way to see the country than on our popular journey between Cape Town and Pretoria. Cape Town offers a blend of cosmopolitan city life, magnificent mountains and superlative winelands, while the twin cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg form the economic heartland of the country and the ideal departure point for South Africa’s famous game reserves. Stay in Cape Town at St James Manor or St James Seaforth, our five-star seaside guesthouses that overlook the vibrant fishing village of Kalk Bay with majestic views across False Bay and the Indian Ocean. Historically known as ‘millionaire’s mile’, St James is making its comeback as one of the trendiest places to stay in Cape Town. The main road through to Kalk Bay Harbour is Mediterranean in style and a trove of novel antique shops, delis, sidewalk cafés, boutiques and art galleries. Fresh fish can be bought from the local fishermen and the harbour itself has charming restaurants offering home-style cuisine and fine-dining experiences. Perhaps the biggest attraction is the land-based whale watching; in season they appear literally metres from the shoreline and can be seen clearly from both properties. Board the Pride of Africa and travel through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic winelands of the Cape to the haunting barrenness of the Great Karoo. Visit the historic village of Matjiesfontein and stop in Kimberley for a city tour and a visit to the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole, and its Diamond Mine Museum. Arrive in Pretoria for an introduction to our beautifully appointed station before transferring to the luxurious boutique hotel, 131 on Herbert Baker. Reflecting the city’s spirit in a harmonious blend of chic and contemporary sophistication, 131 is located close to the city centre near business, commercial and shopping districts and overlooks the expansive city of Pretoria.
