Embark on this 11-day adventure with a two-night stay at the Fairmont Zimbali, one of South Africa’s premier resorts on KwaZulu-Natal’s Dolphin Coast. Board the Pride of Africa on our Durban Safari to Pretoria for two nights. Arrive at Rovos Rail for an introduction to our beautifully appointed private station before spending the night at your hotel. Spend the following three nights on board the train on the Victoria Falls Journey. Arrive at the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River and enjoy a two-night stay at the colonial-style Victoria Falls Hotel. 

CAPE TOWN and DURBAN SAFARI Package – 7 days
This seven-day journey begins in Cape Town and ends in Durban. Travel on our Cape Town Journey to Pretoria through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic winelands of the Cape to the haunting barrenness of the Great Karoo and the goldfields of the Witwatersrand. Arrive in Pretoria and transfer to your hotel for the night. Enjoy the day at leisure or tour the city, Soweto, Johannesburg, Constitution Hill and the Apartheid Museum. The train departs the following morning on the Durban Safari for two nights with visits to a Big Five bush retreat, an 11 000-acre nature reserve and a charming and influential ceramics gallery before travelling the Valley of a Thousand Hills to Durban. PRETORIA and VICTORIA FALLS including the Stanley & Livingstone Private Game Reserve – 6 days
This five-night adventure begins in Pretoria with the Victoria Falls Journey. The train travels northwards across Botswana and the Tropic of Capricorn through Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park where a game-drive excursion is enjoyed. The sojourn ends at the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River. Transfer to the Stanley & Livingstone Private Game Reserve (6000 acres) for a two-night stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis including a game drive. Available in reverse. Please note that depending upon railway capacity this journey could be routed northwards through Beitbridge and Zimbabwe.

08h30 Depart the hotel and board the train at Durban Station for a 10h00 departure.
15h00 Visit to the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery.

Day4

06h30 Wake-up call for a choice of excursions: 
Option 1 – Game drive in Spionkop Reserve. Option 2 – Spionkop battlefields tour.
15h00 Game drive in the Nambiti Game Reserve.

Day5

16h00 Arrive at Rovos Rail Station in Capital Park, Pretoria. Transfer to hotel for an overnight stay – B&B.

Day6

09h30 The train departs from Rovos Rail Station and traverses the Magaliesberg Range to Mafikeng for border formalities.

Day at leisure on board as the train traverses Botswana and crosses the Tropic of Capricorn en route to the Zimbabwean border at Plumtree.

Day9

10h00 Arrive at the incomparable Victoria Falls Station. Walk across to the Victoria Falls Hotel for a two-night stay on a B&B basis. Tours and activities can be arranged on request.

Day10

Day at leisure at the Victoria Falls Hotel on a B&B basis. Optional activities arranged on request: 
Tour the Falls, helicopter over the Falls, golf, elephant-back safaris, walk with lions, river rafting, etc.

Day11

10h00 Transfer to the Victoria Falls or Livingstone Airport for your flight home OR you may wish to extend your stay with your own additional arrangements.

11h00 Depart Cape Town Station on the Pride of Africa.
18h00 Arrive in Matjiesfontein and explore the quaint village. Dinner and overnight on the train.

Day2

14h00 Tour of Kimberley’s Big Hole and Diamond Mine Museum. Ten minutes after departing Kimberley a shallow lake appears on the left-hand side of the train where, on most occasions, there are spectacular flocks of Lesser Flamingos (approximately 23 000). Travel from the Karoo to the Highveld. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day3

12h00 Arrive at Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria and transfer to the hotel for a two-night stay – B&B.

Day4

Enjoy a day at leisure or a tour of the city, Soweto, Johannesburg, Constitution Hill and the Apartheid Museum with lunch en route. Overnight at the hotel.

Day5

10h00 Depart Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria. Lunch is served as the Drakensberg Mountains come into view. In the afternoon the train climbs to Majuba Hill (2146m/7040ft). Dinner is served en route to Elandslaagte for overnight stop.

Day6

06h00 Wake-up call. Tea, coffee, juices and pastries in the dining car/s before embarking on a game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Return to the train for brunch at 11h00 and head for Estcourt.
14h00 Disembark for a 40-minute drive to Spionkop Lodge where a choice of two excursions is available: an escorted tour of the battlefields or a game drive in the Spionkop Game Reserve. Return to the train for dinner.

Day7

Breakfast is served as the train descends the escarpment en route to Lions River Station.
10h00 Visit the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery including an equestrian display.
12h00 Depart for Durban. The train traverses the spectacular Valley of a Thousand Hills.
16h00 Arrive at journey’s end in Durban.

15h00 Arrive Kennedy for a game drive at The Hide.

07h00 Depart Thompsons. Breakfast is served until 09h30.
10h00 Arrive at journey’s end in Victoria Falls. Transfer from Victoria Falls Station to Stanley & Livingstone for a two-night stay on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis including a game drive.
