  CAPE TO CAIRO DEPARTURE DATE: 1 FEBRUARY 2008
Day 1 Fri 01 Feb
  Arrive Cairo own arrangements. Transfer to Four Seasons First Residence Hotel with views of both the Nile and the Great Pyramids. Day at leisure. Optional tours available. Welcome dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 2 Sat 02 Feb

Full day tour to Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 3 Sun 03 Feb
09h00 Tour of Saqqara and Memphis. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 4 Mon 04 Feb
09h00 Transfer to Cairo airport for flight to Luxor. Board Amarco 1 for river adventure. Lunch on board. Afternoon visits to the West Bank of Luxor, including Valley of Kings, Valley of Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut and photo stop at Colossi of Memnon proceeded by Luxor Temple visit. Afternoon tea and dinner on board. Overnight on board in Luxor.
Day 5 Tue 05 Feb
  Breakfast buffet on board. Visit Karnak Temple. Sail to Esna. Lunch on board. Afternoon tea and dinner on board. Overnight on board in Esna.
Day 6 Wed 06 Feb
  Breakfast buffet on board. Morning visit to the Temple of Khnum at Esna. Lunch on board, while you sail to Edfu. Afternoon visit to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. Afternoon tea on board, and sunset sailing to Kom Ombo. “Egyptian Night” dinner on board, including Galabeyya party with a chance for all guests to dress in traditional Egyptian Galabeyyas for the night. Overnight on board in Kom Ombo.
Day 7 Thur 07 Feb
  Breakfast buffet on board. Morning visit to the Temple of Sobek at Kom Ombo. Sail to Aswan. Lunch on board. Afternoon visits to the Temple of Philae on Agilika Island, the Unfinished Obelisk at the Ancient Granite Quarries, and the Aswan High Dam. Afternoon tea on board. Farewell gala dinner on board, with oriental folkloric show. Overnight on board in Aswan.
Day 8 Fri 08 Feb
08h00 Breakfast buffet on board, and checkout. Transfer to Aswan airport for flight to Abu Simbel. Enjoy visits to the temples of Ramses II and his wife Nefertari. Transfer back to airport for one-and-a-half hour flight to Khartoum, Sudan. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Al Salam Rotana Hotel.
Day 9 Sat 09 Feb
09h00 Visit to the Sudanese National Museum of Ethnography and the National Museum of Sudan. Afternoon visit to Bait Al-Khalifa Museum. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 Sun 10 Feb
08h00 Transfer to Khartoum Airport for 3 hour flight to Entebbe, Uganda.
12h00 Arrive Entebbe and transfer to Imperial Resort Beach Hotel.
13h30 Afternoon visit to the island of Ngama and its orphaned chimpanzees. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 11 Mon 11 Feb
08h00 Depart for visit to Jinja, the source of the Nile (two-and-a-half hour drive from Entebbe).
09h15 Mabira Forest Walk en-route.
13h00 Lunch at Jinja Nile Resort. Dinner and overnight hotel at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel.
Day 12 Tue 12 Feb
09h00 After immigration and customs formalities we depart Entebbe airport for 1 hour flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
11h00 Board vehicles for two-and-a-half hour drive via Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Farmhouse. Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere on the coffee farm. Dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day 13 Wed 13 Feb
  After breakfast, game drive excursion with lunch on floor of crater. Dinner & overnight at lodge.
Day 14 Thur 14 Feb
10h00 Breakfast at the Lodge. Transfer to Serengeti mobile tented camp in Ndutu area.
12h00 Arrive at the camp for lunch and afternoon game drive. Dinner & overnight at the camp.
Day 15 Fri 15 Feb
09h00 Breakfast in camp. Morning & afternoon game drives in the Serengeti. Lunch, dinner & overnight at the camp.
Day 16 Sat 16 Feb
08h00 Transfer to airstrip for domestic flight to Kilimanjaro airport.
11h00 Board aircraft for one-and-a-half hour flight to Zanzibar flying past Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
13h00 Arrive Zanzibar and transfer to Zanzibar Serena Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 17 Sun 17 Feb
09h00 Island Spice Tour with lunch en route.
15h00 Stone City tour. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 18 Mon 18 Feb
09h30 Board local flight for 20 minute trip to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and transfer to Tazara Station.
12h00 Rovos Rail’s Edwardian Train Safari departs Dar es Salaam. Lunch, dinner and overnight on the train.
Day 19 Tue 19 Feb
16h30 Arrive Makambako en route to Tunduma. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board. Afternoon lecture by on-board Historian.
Day 20 Wed 20 Feb
07h00 Arrive Tunduma/Nakonde for Tanzanian/Zambian border control. Morning and afternoon lectures.
Day 21 Thu 21 Feb
08h00 Arrive Kanona. Brunch outing at Kundalila Falls. Zambia.
12h00 Depart Kanona, lunch and dinner on board.
Day 22 Fri 22 Feb
12h00 Pass through Lusaka, Kafue and Choma. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board with morning and afternoon lectures.
Day 23 Sat 23 Feb
09h00 Arrive Livingstone for Zimbabwean border formalities before arriving Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
12h00 Transfer to the Victoria Falls Hotel.
16h00 Sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. African Spectacular Show. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 24 Sun 24 Feb
  Day at leisure – optional tour of the Falls, game of golf, Flight of the Angels, river rafting, etc.
17h00 Rovos Rail departs Victoria Falls. Dinner and overnight on the train.
Day 25 Mon 25 Feb
08h00 Pass by Bulawayo on route to Beitbridge with breakfast, lunch and dinner on board with morning and afternoon lectures. Overnight on train.
Day 26 Tue 26 Feb
14h00 Arrive Hoedspruit, South Africa and transfer to 5-star Thornybush or Ngala Game Lodge for full board two-night stay.
Day 27 Wed 27 Feb
  After breakfast, guest activities i.e. Guided walk or morning and afternoon game drives. Optional visit to Wild Dog and Cheetah Project at own cost. Overnight at Kapama or Thornybush.
Day 28 Thu 28 Feb
05h30 Early morning game drive at the lodge.
12h00 Depart Hoedspruit. Lunch is served on board as the train heads to Pretoria via Nelspruit.
Day 29 Fri 29 Feb
10h00 Arrive at Rovos Rail’s gracious Capital Park Station in Pretoria. City tour followed by a light garden lunch and a sightseeing walk around the Rovos Rail depot.
15h30 The train departs Pretoria for Cape Town.
Day 30 Sat 01 Mar
10h00 Arrive Kimberley for tour of ‘ Big Hole ’ and diamond museum.
13h00 Rejoin the train for lunch. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight on board the train.
Day 31 Sun 02 Mar
08h30 Arrive at Matjiesfontein Victorian Village for a 2 hour visit.
10h30 Depart for Cape Town.
18h00 Arrive Cape Town. Transfer, dinner and overnight at the Cape Grace Hotel on the V & A Waterfront.
Day 32 Mon 03 Mar
08h30 Depart for full day tour of Cape Winelands, including a visit to a famous wine estate with lunch en route.
Afternoon visits to Franschhoek, Boschendal and Stellenbosch. Dinner and overnight at Cape Grace.
Day 33 Tue 04 Mar
08h30 Depart for full day tour of Cape Peninsula (including Groot Constantia, Fish Hoek, Simonstown, Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Hout Bay and Kirstenbosch). Light lunch en route.
Farewell dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 34 Wed 05 Mar
  Morning at leisure before transferring to Cape Town International Airport for return flight home.

Supplement: US$3,000 per person for upgrade to Royal Suite (train portion)

Tour price includes accommodation, meals, excursions and taxes plus alcoholic beverages only whilst on board the train and ‘plane. Excluded are gratuities, items of
a personal nature and alcoholic beverages off-train.
Visas may be required for South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan and Egypt,
and should be acquired prior to arrival.
Passengers are requested to have yellow fever inoculations, and are advised to take anti-malarial precautions as might be prescribed before commencing the journey.
